Thinking about doing a yoga teacher training? Bali is one of the most popular yoga destinations in the world, offering affordable courses in a stunning surrounding.
Please be aware that due to Covid-19, Bali has not fully reopen yet to International tourists.
However, it is possible to enter Indonesia with a B211 visa and travel to Bali after quarantine.
Where to do a Yoga Teacher Training in Bali?
Have you been thinking about doing a yoga teacher training lately? After spending more than 1 year in Bali (from where I am right now writing this article), I understand now why Bali is the most popular yoga destination in the world after India right now. Yoga is everywhere here, it's a dream destination for yogis and people seeking peace and tranquility. It’s also relatively cheap to do your yoga teacher training in Bali, and the scenery here is absolutely gorgeous.
Bali is known as an island of the gods, and many of these are associated with the mountains, lakes and sea. The natural Hindu lineage in Bali is one of the reasons why retreats and yoga teacher trainings have flourished here as yoga is most certainly part of Balinese everyday life.
Bali’s authentic health and wellness hotspot is Ubud. Dotted all over the lush tropical forests and rice fields of Ubud are raw food cafes, Ayurvedic centres, aquatonic pools, spiritual counselling services, yoga schools, and silent retreats. Because of this, Bali has become a popular place for yogis and like minded travelers who want to stick around for some time.
The best time for your yoga teacher training in Bali is at any time of the year, but especially when it's the rainy season (December to April) as it’s less crowded and the atmosphere at this time is thick with humidity (and occasional downpours!) - which can improve your yoga practice. It’s a great time to get a sense of the traditional Balinese life, enjoy the peacefulness of the island, and visit some of the many Hindi festival celebrations happening in these months.
How do you choose your yoga teacher training?
There are various grounded reasons to join a yoga teacher training program. You’ll discover your natural intuition as a yoga teacher, deepen your yoga practice, and learn more about your own body. You connect with yourself and learn more about the history and philosophy of yoga. Thereby, the course can open yourself up to a world of new (career) possibilities.
If you want to become a yoga teacher after completion of the course, it’s recommended to check whether you are eligible to join Yoga Alliance (the main registration organization for retreats, studios, and teachers) upon successful completion of a 200 or 500-hour yoga teacher training. Although this certificate is not required for becoming a yoga teacher, it’s often recommended to have a certificate at hand as studios and retreat organizers today require at least 200 hours of training recognized by Yoga Alliance. Whether the school is Yoga Alliance-approved, is mentioned in the BookYogaTeacherTraining listing of the course and can be inquired about before booking the training.
However, it’s not uncommon for yogis to take a yoga teacher training course when they have no intention of becoming a yoga teacher, but just want to take their yoga skills to the next level. The training courses are designed to deepen your yoga practice, learn more about your body, and therefore can be taken by yogis not interested in changing their career. Give it a try!
