The world around us can get a little hectic from time to time and sometimes we need to break away from the noise of everyday life. Whether you’re looking to find a romantic getaway for you and your loved one, or you just need a chance to escape the monotony of the nine to five, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve got all the inspiration you need right here, so pack your bags, put your ‘out of office’ on, book your hotel and get ready to head to one of these top five places to visit for peace and tranquility.
1. Bali, Indonesia
Things don’t get much more relaxing than the breath-taking Indonesian island of Bali. The island’s coast boasts some of the most incredible beaches in the world, but head inland and you’ll find the idyllic town of Ubud. Nestled amongst cascading rice paddy fields, Ubud is all about ornate temples, relaxing yoga, healthy eating and rhythmic Balinese music. As is the case in the book and film, ‘Eat, Pray, Love’, it’s the place where people go to find themselves.
2. Milford Sound, New Zealand
Head to the other side of the world and make your way to New Zealand’s beautiful South Island. From Queenstown, make the journey to Fiordland National Park and take a cruise around the otherworldly Milford Sound. It’s New Zealand’s most impressive natural wonder, where you’ll feel transported to another land. Gaze up at the towering peaks, sheer cliffs and gushing waterfalls as you drift through peaceful waters, spotting seals and penguins as you go.
3. The Maldives
The ultimate definition of escaping the real world, you’ll feel as far removed from the stresses of everyday life as is possible on a getaway to the Maldives. I have been 4 times to the Maldives already, my last recent visits were Milaidhoo Island and LUX* South Ari Atoll.
Secluded, stunning and utterly relaxing beyond compare, this group of atolls in the middle of the Indian Ocean is the perfect place to go to experience true peace and tranquility. Dive amongst the calming coral reefs or soak up the sun in a gently swaying hammock on an unforgettable trip to paradise.
4. Ha Long Bay, Vietnam
Like a scene out of a movie, Ha Long Bay in northeast Vietnam is beautiful and eerie in equal measure. There’s nothing more mesmerizing than taking to the shimmering and vast emerald waters in a tiny kayak and exploring the area in your own company; feeling so insignificant in somewhere so jaw-droppingly stunning. The towering limestone pillars jutting out of the water make this UNESCO World Heritage Site one of the most unique places on earth and easily one of the most tranquil.
5. Lake Como, Italy
A taste of paradise in the heart of the Mediterranean, the luxurious Lake Como oozes romance and relaxation. Found in northern Italy’s Lombardy Region, the picture-perfect lake is lined with ancient terracotta-roofed villages and set to the dramatic backdrop of snow-dusted Alps and a blanket of lush pine forests. Wander peaceful gardens, explore historical sites and absorb the peaceful atmosphere of this elegant and charming resort.
So which destination can you see yourself making the most of the peace and tranquility?
Each as unique and special as the next, you certainly can’t go wrong with any of them.
